Cooking School
The rain in Kathmandu is hot, heavy and not stopping. The motorcyclists have got these really ingenious ponchos which cover their entire body and bike. They put their helmet on over the top of it all and there is a transparent panel which allows them to see their speedo etc.
They all just matter-of-factly get these ponchos out of the handy spot under the seat, pop them on and carry on, splashing their way to wherever they are going. Rain is no deterrent at all.
But meanwhile, the intrepid kiwis are not so keen on splashing their way round the streets so we spent the afternoon at a cooking school.
What an experience! Iām not exactly renowned for my cooking skills but gave it a go. And what fun it was.
We ended up in a tiny room, equipped with gas burners, pressure cookers (they use them a lot here), lots of spices and three lovely helpers.
And so under their benevolent direction, we produced a delicious, traditional four course meal including the famous Momo - chocolate would you believe !
It was a great experience and we felt as though we actually did learn some useful skills that we will use again. Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks ! A big lie down required later of course- far far far too much to eat! L
